Early last fall, I went out on a date with a guy who enjoyed writing. He had a blog, he said. I asked for the link. “I’m warning you,” he told me. “It’s a vanity project.”
Aren’t they all? Blogs, I mean. In one way or another, they’re all vanity projects. And, so is this one. This is my third blog. The others were short-lived because both times I arrived at the same conclusion: I didn’t have much to say. I wrote about things that mattered to me at the time – knitting, gardening, marriage, canning. But I never, ever wrote about me. This blog, though, is going to be different. In true vanity-project style, this blog’s going to be about me. I’ve undergone a lot of changes in my life over the past year, and those changes have given me lots to say – about midlife, divorce, love, dating, rediscovering myself. About biking, beauty, attitude, and obsession.
This time around, I’m more likely to run out of time than topics.
These days, I have lots to say.
